KiddoStory is a screen-free story reader designed for families. We take your privacy seriously — especially when kids are involved. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your data.
What We Access
KiddoStory connects to your Google Drive to read story files (PDF, ePub) from a folder you choose. The app requests read-only access — it cannot modify, delete, or share your files.
The app also uses on-device speech synthesis and speech recognition for its reading modes. All speech processing happens locally on your device — no audio is sent to external servers.
What We Store on Your Device
- Your Google authentication token is stored securely in your device's Keychain.
- Downloaded story files are cached locally on your device for offline reading.
- Your selected folder name and reading preferences are stored in app preferences.
- Family voice recordings (Family Recording mode) are saved locally on your device only.
No data is sent to any server other than Google's APIs for the purpose of accessing your Drive files.
In-App Purchases
KiddoStory offers optional premium features through Apple's in-app purchase system. All transactions are processed entirely by Apple — we do not receive, store, or have access to your payment information. Purchase history and subscription status are managed by Apple's StoreKit framework on your device.
What We DON'T Collect
- We do not collect analytics or usage data.
- We do not use advertising SDKs.
- We do not share any data with third parties.
- We do not access any files outside your selected folder.
- We do not record, transmit, or store voice data externally — all voice processing is on-device.
- We do not use cookies or tracking technologies.
Children's Privacy
KiddoStory is designed for children to use with parental supervision. The app does not collect any personal information from children. All Google account sign-in and in-app purchases should be performed by a parent or guardian. The app complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) — we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Google API Usage
KiddoStory uses the Google Drive API with the drive.readonly scope. This allows the app to list and download story files from folders you explicitly select. The app does not access any other Google services or data. Our use of Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data Deletion
You can sign out at any time from Settings, which removes your authentication token. You can also clear the local cache to remove all downloaded story files and voice recordings from your device. No data remains on any external server because we never send data to one.

If we update this privacy policy, the changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
